Pastor Chris Buttery and his wife, Jennifer, began their ministry at the Roanoke SDA Church on July 1, 2024. They moved to the Roanoke area from Louisville, Kentucky.

When he has some downtime, Pastor Chris enjoys site seeing, staying active, reading and catching up on current events, trying his hand at playing guitar, and enjoying family and friends. Jennifer enjoys singing, drawing, being creative, learning about prominent historical figures, and whenever the opportunity affords itself, whale watching. 

For seven years, Pastor Chris served as a publishing assistant in Ontario, Canada, helping to grow a vibrant adult and youth evangelistic outreach and literature ministry. For the past eighteen years, he has served in various pastoral roles - associate, district, and lead pastor - in eastern and central Pennsylvania; Sacramento, California; and most recently Louisville, Kentucky. Pastor Chris has developed a website of Christian living resources and produced two broadcast TV programs with local and international reach.

Pastor Chris’ vision for ministry includes making disciples for Christ and growing and organizing churches to engage in evangelizing and discipling others. His method focuses on the whole person - body, mind, and spirit.
